Welcome to the Skatepunkers Wiki[edit | edit source]

This wiki was established by the members of the Skatepunkers forum in October 2011. We are aiming to create an open online skatepunk encyclopedia which contains information about skatepunk bands from all countries of the world and everything else related to skatepunk in any way. Feel free to add or edit any page about a skatepunk band or skatepunk related topic you would like.

Please, do also visit the Skatepunkers blog.

PLEASE: If you're adding information about a band, don't forget to link them to the band list. It makes it easier to find for others ;)

Skatepunk[edit | edit source]

Skatepunk is a musical sub-genre of punk rock.

Skatepunk was originally a derivative of hardcore punk, so named because of its popularity among skateboarders. It can be difficult for outsiders to pin down exactly what makes a particular band skatepunk, but there are a few strong tendencies. Skatepunk tends to be especially high-energetic, even for the genre it comes from; that usually means even faster drumming and thrashier guitars combined with vocal harmonies.
